At Agio, cybersecurity is more than just a service—it’s our commitment to continuous innovation and teamwork. We have a unique approach to managed IT and cybersecurity that benefits all our clients, regardless of their specific services. Our response to discovering a new attacker trend showcases our commitment to collaboration across teams to help our entire client base, not just a single client.

Protecting You with Cross-Service Insights

Our Managed IT team recently spotted something interesting: someone was using PerfectData, an Office 365 app for mailbox migration and backup. Our team recognized that while PerfectData is a legitimate app, our clients don’t usually use it. Based on that, they considered it an indication of compromise and dug deeper. They were right.

An attacker had accessed a user account and was using PerfectData to create an offline copy of the compromised mailbox. This was a clever move on their part—even if we booted them out of the account, they’d still have the downloaded data.

Here’s where you see the Agio difference. We could have fixed it and called it a day, but that’s not in our nature. Instead, our Managed IT team saw an opportunity and created an alert in the tool that monitors our managed IT clients’ Office 365 environments. That alert goes off anytime any of those accounts install that app.

But it gets better because our anti-silo commitment means our managed IT, cyber operations, and cyber governance teams don’t just work side by side—they work together, sharing insights and solutions seamlessly. With the big picture in mind, Managed IT worked with the Cyber Operations team to set up similar alerts for our XDR monitoring platform.

By the next day, this new detection capability protected all our clients, whether they use our managed IT services, our XDR solutions, or both. That’s what we call the “network effect” of our services. When we spot a new threat affecting one client, we quickly develop and roll out a solution for everyone. It’s like having a cybersecurity neighborhood watch—when one of us spots trouble, we all benefit from the warning.

After implementation, the alert had a bigger impact than we expected. In one case, our Cyber Ops team detected a PerfectData alert, and during a joint call with the client and our Cyber Governance team, we uncovered more than an immediate threat. It turned out that the client had an ex-employee who still had a company laptop at his house. We addressed the PerfectData incident, and the client decided to rethink their offboarding procedures. It’s a great example of how our security measures can illuminate broader organizational vulnerabilities.

Curiosity-Driven Innovation

Agio fosters a culture of curiosity and proactivity. The PerfectData alert wasn’t created because it was in someone’s job description. It happened because our team members are naturally curious and always looking for ways to improve our clients’ security.

Proper cybersecurity is a team sport. By encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, we ensure that each client benefits from the combined brainpower of our entire organization.

So, whether you’re using our managed IT services, our cyber ops solutions, or getting strategic advice from our vCISOs, you can rest easy knowing you’re protected by insights gained across our entire service spectrum.

Knowledge truly is power. At Agio, we make sure that knowledge works for all our clients all the time.
