Crowdstrike Global Update Causes Widespread Windows System Crashes, Microsoft Azure Experiences Brief Outage
As many of you are probably aware, there have been a couple of IT issues in the past few hours which are having a global impact.
- Microsoft Azure outage – this was a brief outage impacting various Microsoft services from Thursday at 6PM EST. Microsoft remediated the issue around 5AM EST.
- CrowdStrike Software Update – Currently, this is the larger of the two issues and has caused thousands of workstations and servers worldwide to crash. This update is only impacting Windows systems – not Linux or Mac.
There are currently two types of issues: DIRECT and INDIRECT:
DIRECT ISSUES:
For our clients who were using CrowdStrike on their Windows machines, they are experiencing hard down servers and workstations. We are aware of those clients and are working diligently to remediate the most critical servers and desktops.
INDIRECT ISSUES:
Because of the widespread nature of this outage, while your systems might not be impacted, many of the systems you interact with might be impacted causing a disruption to your work processes.
